The Oft-Forgotten Details of Moving

  • #Apartment Moving
  • #Home Moving
  • #Move Management
  • Finding the ideal place to live or rent is only half the battle when it comes to the moving process. In fact, securing your new living space might seem like a cake walk compared to moving out of your current place. With all of the different aspects that go into leaving one place and settling in another, it can be pretty simple to completely blank on certain moving tasks. With that in mind, take a look at a few tidbits of advice to help you remember the little things. Read on!

    Remove Items from Dressers

Just because your items are closed away in dresser drawers doesn’t mean they are completely safe during the moving process. Once that dresser is loaded on the truck, a lot of movement can occur even if the dresser is securely strapped down. Upon arriving at your new home, you’re likely to find several damaged items within the dresser that’ll need tending to. This unfortunate scenario can be entirely avoided if you put your fragile dresser items into a specific box and pack them accordingly. Keep in mind, clothing can be left in drawers seeing as they can’t be broken. The moving process can be a tiring one but taking extra steps to ensure your belongings are safe and secure is more important than a few extra minutes of rest time.

Make Sure Your Moving Truck Has a Parking Space

Giving your movers the space they need, both indoors and outdoors, is essential to a much less stressful moving day. So, it’s important to make sure they have a place to park their moving truck(s) on the big day. If you don’t take the time to do this, you run the risk of there being no nearby space for your moving crew and that will only make things more expensive and time-consuming on your end. It’s not your movers’ job to find the parking space, it’s yours. Choose proper spaces to avoid any unnecessary parking tickets and block off your chosen space with some orange cones to keep things copacetic, not to mention simpler.

    Label Boxes

If you feel like you’ve read this point before, it’s probably because you have. It’s an important one to note, however, because folks tend to speed through the packing process without taking into consideration the unpacking process. By labeling your boxes accordingly by room, you’re giving yourself clear direction as to where each box goes. If you don’t, you may be adding hours to the overall moving task. Keep things easy for yourself once everything is said and done and your movers have gone, otherwise, you’ll be standing in a new home, or apartment, with a bunch of unlabeled boxes scratching your head as to where to start.

When moving, it’s important to take the unexpected into account. Even when you plan for the worst-case scenario, it’s easy for particular aspects of the process the completely slip your mind. The latter three are all pretty important, so save yourself from running into any trouble and plan ahead! If the process is a bit too daunting for you, enlist the help of our excellent team.
