How Can I Increase the Value of My Home?

  • #Home Moving
  • If you are getting ready to sell your home or are thinking about moving in the near future one question a lot of homeowners ask themselves is “How can I get the most bang for my buck when getting ready to sell?”. While there are a lot of options that take a little bit of an investment to see your home value rise, there are also a few quick fixes you can make that will help. Take a look below and see what you can do to increase the value of your Massachusetts home.

Tips to Increase the Value of Your Home

    Plan your remodel

The fastest (and most expensive) way to increase the value of your home is to plan a remodel. Take a step back and look at what really needs some help, don’t just make an impulse decision. If you have an area of your home that could benefit from a remodel, start slowly and make sure to hire a trusted contractor in your area, do some research or ask around!

    Think of the small things

Upgrading smaller things around the home such as your decor, or design can actually pay off a little bit as well. Things like replacing outdated faucets, lighting, and doors throughout the home are just a few ideas. You could also update furniture, artwork and window treatments as well.

If you are running low on your upgrade budget you can always do a few small things, such as upgrading electric plugs, or buying new smaller lamps- everything counts.

    Clean your house!

When you do end up putting your home on the market, a clean home throughout can entice prospective buyers to possibly buy your home. Put yourself in the buyers shoes, would you want to buy a home that is slightly dirty and not put together, or the home that is clean and looks livable.

Also, by maintaining a clean home, you can stay on top of things like potential maintenance issues that may pop up. That way you can get ahead of it before it becomes an issue. Another benefit of keeping your home clean is that by not allowing junk or dirt to build up you can drastically reduce the risk of mold growing in your home.

Remember, de-cluttering is a form of cleaning. Just as dirt builds up, so does clutter. Don’t waste money moving your junk around. Get rid of it now. When it’s time to sell you will feel confident about what you are presenting to the buyer.

    Upgrade your kitchen

The number one upgrade that usually nets homeowners the best return on investment is a full kitchen remodel. You can also benefit from even just a small mini remodel. Things like updating the paint, adding new finish, or a  new backsplash can all invigorate new life into the kitchen.

New tile is also one of the hot floorings as of late popping up in designer-inspired kitchens. As well as stainless steel appliances that are environmentally friendly. Try to slowly phase out your old appliances with new, more efficient ones to attract buyers. Just make sure to keep the same finish across all new appliances for a cohesive look.
